YIPEE.... This is exciting news. These two open source projects are great and supported extremely well.

Joomla is a very nice CMS and adding mootools just makes it a more well rounded system.

Cheers to all developers.

Another thing i saw in the beta was the FULL Mootools Library in one file being appended to the HEAD

50k Compressed ????? that's too much.
Even greater than prototype compressed.

Mootools is modular, so we can add only the things we need at the moment we need it.

In my default joomla 1.5 installation the home page is not using the ajax library anywhere.

Why download the full 50k package if it's not even using the base package?

I think we should have a $var or something to determine if the library is being used at least in the home page.

Well the devs surely know what jQuery is, so I dubt that they haven't considered it, but I haven't found any official explenation as to why jQuery wasn't chosen.

Is great to have one ajax library by default in the new joomla 1.5.

But why not jquery or prototype? they are more robust and have a biggest code library. Just look at the projects home pages.

[...] Torkil Johnsen » Joomla 1.5 to include MooTools Judging by the latest logs from the SVN repository, Joomla 1.5 will include MooTools in its 1.5 release… Joomla 1.5, revision 6400 (a milestone in the making) has the following log entry: “JavaScript conversion to Mootools WIP”. (WIP = Work In Progress). Changed files in this revision includes lots of Joomla JS files, the khepri template, the contact component and the administrators media manager, so I think it is safe to say that MooTools will be a significant part of Joomla in the near future.
