Hidden player abilities

A suggestion to make Hattrick less predictable and more realistic. Isn’t it boring to be able to calculate a players abilities almost down to the decimal? Isn’t it dull to know on the dot when your players will increase in skill and how they will perform… at all times? Someone thought so, so to add a little unpredictability, the following was suggested:

Hidden player abilities would make the game less cold and mathematic, (a little bit!) less predictable, and add more mystery and magic to it. I have to stress the words “a little bit“! The idea was not made with the intention of making some players useless or other players super powerful, just to add some unknown variables into the equation and create more idividual variation and realism.

These hidden abilities could be for example:

  • Talent
    Talented players could increase in skill a little bit faster than other, less talented players.
  • Injury proneness
    Players prone to injury could get injured more often and for longer stretches of time.
  • Professionalism
    Could affect a players performance in regular games, important games, unimportant games, situations on the field, etc.
