This post is dedicated to the discussion of the seasonal changes with among other things a lower interest, higher sponsorship income and faster skill decline. Feel free to jump in and give your opinion on these changes.

I have the following opinions on the subject:

I won’t spend much time addressing the staged removal of interest payments. It appears that the shortfall will be made up with higher sponsorship payments. This will help lower clubs by giving them a financial boost (they don’t earn much or anything from interest) because they will gain without loosing. If the balance is correct higher clubs won’t loose out either. The removal of the financial incentive for storing housing cash should also give the transfer market a spike as managers strive to make their money work for them via spending. It’s not realistic and I would have liked to see something at the other end to give new managers who find themselves in debt a fighting chance. However, I think it could be a good move overall.

The quickening of skill degradation was a bit of a surprise and could be problematic. In essence it will cut the training time range for players even further. In combination with the changes already made it could become hard to develop experienced players. Unless managers shift from using training to improve players and instead use it to maintain the skills of existing players.

A greater worry is that with variant positions requiring different training regimes simply maintaining existing skills could become a season consuming affair. Midfield, Winger, Defender, Scoring, Keeper – even addressing those major skill areas on a training basis over 14 weeks (the other 2 being used to counter falling stamina) will provide less than 3 training weeks per area.

Even if managers decide to focus on maintaining skills will 3 weeks be enough to halt the decline of skills?

Is this really the way to go?
