Hattrick give you some flexibility in creating your arena by letting you choice the ratio of seat types when you expand. While this may first appear to be a yet another variable in your team’s income and success, the community quickly figured out the magic seating ratio to maximize income. No matter if your team is brand new or in the top league, the ratio remains the same. I’d like to see the ideal seating ratio for a team’s arena change over time…

My reasoning is this: When a team is brand new, they don’t have many supporters or much money. They most likely won’t have supporters that want to pay for VIP seats to watch a bottom level team. Therefore, a new team’s arena should be focused on terraces and basic seating. This seating is cheap to construct, has a low maintenance fee and it probably what the team’s supporters would want anyway. New teams would benefit by not needing to spend huge amounts on modest expansions.

As a team progresses, gains supporters and moves up the divisions, the arena should need to change to match the supporters needs. They want covered and VIP seats and are willing to pay for it. As the team grows and become more profitable, the arena would need to reflect that. Costs for expensive seats would be deferred until the club is profitable enough to pay for them.

This idea would erase the well known golden ratio of arena seating and make the users experiment more with arena ratios.
