U-17 World Cup
As new youth academy system has been accepted by majority of users, it would be a good idea for a world cup for U-17. This would get small HT nations a good chance to compete in a championship, and more teams could be training national team players. There are lots of things to factor into this idea, among other things a U-17 coach election, but here are some thoughts on how to pull this off.
The idea is:
- Each country will have an U-17 national team.
- Only players that are members of an academy and younger than 18 may participate to U-17 team
- Each candidate for the U-20 national team coach election will state if he’d like to be a candidate for U-17 as well. Only one election will take place. The winner will be the new U-20 manager. Manager of U-17 could be the user who declare interest for this position and has the most votes.
For example:
User A, gets 312 votes, declares interest for U-17 (becomes manager for U-20)
User B, gets 305 votes, not declare interest for U-17
User C, gets 243 votes, declare interest for U-17 (becomes manager for U-17)
User D 212 declare interest for U-17
etc.
- If nobody declares interest then runner up of elections will be the new U-17 manager
- Each user may take the U-17 manager position only once, so more users will have the opportunity to take this position. Expeption to this rule is when nobody declare interest for this position (so runner up of U-20 election will take this place) and in unlikely event that all users have served as U-17 national coach.
- U-17 World cup will run in parallel with U-20. Qualification groups and host nation will be the same. The program will be the same as for U-20 but could take place in opposite home fields. For example if in U-20 England will play Scotland home, on U-17 England will play away. From 2nd round of course different groups will be formed. U-17 rounds could take place one week earlier that U-20, so U-17 WC will finish one week earlier.
The idea is for a WC that every country will have a chance for success. On Men WC and on U-20 bigger countries have a huge advantage. There is no way for example a country with 3 seasons to beat Sweden. From the other side, on U-17 level all countries will start from the same point. Also more managers will have the opportunity to become national managers and this will increase their interest for the game overall.
