tactic board

All of the current tactics are attacking based, and only with some possible negative defensive consequences. This suggestion outlines a new tactical dimension to the match preparations, where two tactics can be chosen in each match, one attacking and one defensive tactic.

The attacking strategies could include the standard ones already around. But new attacking tactics like, all out attack, where attack ratings are increased significantly at a huge loss to defense, or determination, where all players are more “gung ho” (all areas increase one level) but there is a higher chance of injury.

New defensive tactics could also be added. The defensive ones don’t just have to include standard tactics i.e. the regular man on man marking, zonal marking, line defense or sweeper styles, but also tough tackling (increases defense at the cost of possibly more fouls and bookings).

This would increase the depth of the gameplay for all matches, as different combinations of the tactics would have different effects. This would therefore require more skill and increase the enjoyability of hattrick matches.

I can see that this idea may not be for everyone, as it does change the esence of the hattrick gameplay. However all good things require change. And the implementation of a deeper tactical requirement in games could be just what hattrick needs.

Some of the other defensive tactics like the one mentioned above “tough tackling” could provide alternatives to overused tactics like counterattacks when you lose midfield.

In an actual game these tactics could play out in a variety of different ways. Firstly new actions could happen on the pitch. For example if someone chose a heavy defensive tactic, then a message could read, ‘due to the heavy tenacity of abc FC’s defense John Smiths attack was broken up’. Alternatively if a counter defensive tactic was played against its corresponding attacking tactic a mixed message could read something like. “xyz FC rampaged accross the pitch in an attempt at goal, but abc FC’s all out defense was too much for them and they lost the ball’.

In conclusion i feel that if you think about it this change could be just what hattrick needs, and increase the fun and longitivity for everyone.
